How it works
Miễn là 'as long as / provided that' introduces the only condition that matters: Anh đi đâu cũng được, miễn là về trước 10 giờ 'You can go anywhere, as long as you're back before 10'. It usually comes in the second clause. Miễn sao / miễn (colloquial) work the same. Compare nếu (any condition). Mistake: putting miễn là in the main-result position, or using it where 'if' is neutral.
