How it works
Có means 'to have': Tôi có một con mèo. Without a subject, or after a place, it means 'there is / there are': Ở đây có wifi không? 'Is there wifi here?' Trên bàn có hai quyển sách 'There are two books on the table'. Negative: không có. Mistake: using là for 'there is' or putting the place last without ở/trên (Có sách trên bàn is fine; Sách là trên bàn is wrong).
