Pattern(classifier +) N + này / đó / kia
How it works
Demonstratives come AFTER the noun, usually with a classifier: cái bàn này 'this table', con chó kia 'that dog (over there)', người đó 'that person (already mentioned)'. Này = this (near), đó/ấy = that (near you or just mentioned), kia = that (further away). Alone at the start of a sentence use đây/đó/kia: Đây là… 'This is…'. Mistake: này before the noun (này cái bàn) or Này là… instead of Đây là…
