Plural with các and những

VietnameseA1 — BeginnerNumbers, classifiers and this/that
Patterncác / những + N

How it works

Vietnamese nouns have no plural ending: sách = book or books. To mark plural, put các or những before the noun. Các = all the (whole known group): các bạn 'you all', các nước ASEAN. Những = some/certain (a part, or listing): những người này 'these people', những ngày đẹp trời 'the sunny days'. With numbers, use neither: ba quyển sách, not ba những sách. Mistake: adding các everywhere — often bare nouns are enough.
