How it works
Kẻo 'or else, lest' follows advice and introduces the bad result to avoid: Mặc áo ấm vào kẻo lạnh 'Put on a warm coat or you'll get cold'. Không thì / nếu không 'otherwise' work the same and are more neutral. Kẻo is spoken and caring in tone. Mistake: putting kẻo before the advice, or using it with a good result (kẻo vui ✗).
