How it works
Cho has three common uses. 1) 'give': Mẹ cho tôi tiền. 2) 'for / to' after a verb: Tôi mua quà cho mẹ 'I bought a gift for Mum', gọi điện cho anh 'call you'. 3) 'let / allow': Cho tôi xem 'Let me see', Bố không cho tôi đi 'Dad doesn't let me go'. Mistakes: using với for 'call someone' (gọi với anh ✗ → gọi cho anh), or putting the person after the thing with 'give' (cho tiền tôi is colloquial but cho tôi tiền is standard).
