How it works
'Only' is chỉ before the verb, often closed by thôi at the end: Tôi chỉ có 50 nghìn thôi 'I only have 50k'. Either word alone also works (Tôi chỉ có 50 nghìn / Tôi có 50 nghìn thôi), but the frame is very common. Mới also means 'only' with numbers (mới 5 tuổi 'only 5'). Thôi alone can mean 'that's all / never mind / let's just': Thôi, về đi. Mistake: putting chỉ before the subject to mean 'only he' — use chỉ có + person: Chỉ có anh ấy biết.
