How it works
Để expresses purpose 'in order to / so that': Tôi học tiếng Việt để nói chuyện với vợ 'I study Vietnamese to talk with my wife'. With a new subject: …để con ngủ ngon 'so that the child sleeps well'. Để làm gì? 'What for?' Để also means 'let (me)' at the start: Để tôi làm 'Let me do it', and 'to leave/put': để ở đây. Mistake: adding để after muốn/thích (muốn để ăn ✗) — there it is not purpose.
