How it works
'Although' is tuy, mặc dù or dù, and Vietnamese normally KEEPS nhưng in the second clause: Tuy mệt nhưng anh ấy vẫn đi làm 'Although tired, he still went to work'. Vẫn 'still' often follows. English forbids 'although… but', so learners drop nhưng — in Vietnamese the pair is normal (and nhưng may also be dropped). Mặc dù is a bit more formal than tuy. Mistake: using nên with tuy (contrast vs result).
