How it works
Hãy before a verb makes a clear, rather formal command or encouragement: Hãy ngồi xuống 'Sit down', Các em hãy đọc bài này 'Students, read this text'. It is common in instructions, slogans and signs. In daily talk people prefer V + đi or V + nhé (soft). A subject can come before hãy: Anh hãy bình tĩnh 'Please stay calm'. Mistake: hãy at the end, or using hãy for 'let's' — 'let's' is chúng ta hãy… or …đi.
