How it works
The basic yes/no question wraps the verb or adjective: S + có + V + không? Bạn có thích phở không? 'Do you like pho?' Có is optional (Bạn thích phở không?). Answer by repeating the verb or with có/không: Có, tôi thích. / Không, tôi không thích. Polite yes: Vâng (North), Dạ (South, also polite everywhere). Mistake: answering 'yes' with là, or putting không at the start. With là-sentences use có phải… không (next lesson).
