How it works
Ở means 'to be at / to live at': Tôi ở Hà Nội 'I'm in / live in Hanoi'. It replaces 'to be' for location — never use là: Tôi là ở nhà is wrong. 'Where' is đâu, placed at the end: Bạn ở đâu? 'Where are you / where do you live?' Đi đâu? 'Where are you going?' (no ở after đi). Toilet question: Nhà vệ sinh ở đâu? Mistake: Đâu bạn ở? (fronting like English).
