How it works
Equality: A + Adj + bằng + B: Tôi cao bằng anh ấy 'I'm as tall as him' (measurable things). Như is used for comparisons of manner or likeness: đẹp như hoa 'pretty as a flower'. Giống 'resemble / like': Con giống mẹ 'The child looks like the mother'; giống nhau 'alike'; khác 'different'. Negative: không + Adj + bằng = 'not as … as': Huế không lớn bằng Hà Nội. Mistake: using hơn for equality or bằng for resemblance.
