Plural pronouns: chúng tôi, chúng ta, các bạn, họ
VietnameseA1 — BeginnerPronouns and kinship terms
Patternchúng tôi (we, not you) · chúng ta (we incl. you) · các + N · họ
How it works
Chúng tôi is 'we' WITHOUT the listener; chúng ta is 'we' INCLUDING the listener — English has one 'we', Vietnamese has two. 'You' plural: các + the kinship word: các bạn, các anh, các chị, các em. 'They' is họ (neutral) or các anh ấy/các chị ấy. Mistake: saying chúng tôi đi nhé ('we'll go, without you') when you mean 'let's go' — that needs chúng ta. Southern speech often uses tụi tôi / tụi mình.
