Final particles ơi, ạ, nhé, nhỉ

These little words carry no dictionary meaning but they decide how you come across.

ƠI calls someone. Ạ adds respect towards elders. NHÉ softens a suggestion. NHỈ invites agreement. Leaving them out is not ungrammatical but can sound cold or abrupt.

Chị ơi ! — calling someone's attention
Em chào cô ạ. — respectful greeting
Mình đi nhé ? — a gentle suggestion
Trời đẹp nhỉ ? — don't you think so
Anh giúp em một chút nhé. — softened request
